Hi.

I’m a fan of Manhattan Art, Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle! The best way to experience New York City that I've found is by word of mouth. Great ideas and inspiration often come from other people's thoughts and experiences.

Announcing Photographer Jana Cruder's HerStory images at Joanne Artman Gallery

Hurry! Hurry! Don’t miss this highly recommended and reviewed art exhibit.

On view now at Joanne Artman Gallery’s exhibit entitled That 70s Show: Saturday Night Fever is photographer Jana Cruder’s series HerStory.

Included in the gallery’s collaborative exhibition of work inspired by the 1970s, Cruder presents her latest fine art series. Fitting for our time, the photographs are a study on the complexities of feminism and cultural appropriations in a long-gone era in history.

A panorama of sweet, candy-colored images portray the woman set to explore her new-found freedom from the cultural norms of the time.

A study of dichotomy, Cruder’s images show a woman torn between two worlds: one in which she is earning her own way, yet still facing patriarchal challenges that demand she live the standard, domesticated lifestyle in a male-dominated world. She is strong and fierce. And looking to explore far beyond what society has taught her.

HerStory, while set in the 70s, cannot be more timely, as today we find ourselves still fighting for the rights and power of women everywhere.

Don’t miss That 70s Show: Saturday Night Fever, on view now until July 1 at Joanne Goodman Art Gallery, 511A West 22nd St, New York, NY 10011.
